Dear Parents,   

I hope this finds you making the most of your summer while keeping your health and safety at the forefront of your experiences.  If your family is like mine, summer finds you spending a lot of time outdoors exploring the Pacific Northwest, grilling dinner on the barbeque, and enjoying movies on an outdoor screen you’ve created.  Stargazing, hoping to catch a glimpse of NEOWISE and pondering what to expect with fall coming.  I’d like to gain a better understanding of where your family’s comfort level is in returning to CHA in person in September or if you prefer our online option.  With this in mind, please complete the survey below to assist us in our planning and preparation to meet your family’s needs. 

Fall Re-Opening Planning Survey - The input of CHA families is invaluable as we plan to welcome students back in the fall. We would like to thank parents who have already given us their thoughts, concerns, and questions. We have already shared that we believe we are able to provide an in-person experience for all our students whilst meeting all the published requirements for keeping students safe, due to our small class numbers. We will also be providing an online option. We are at the point in our planning where we need to know whether your preference is for an in-person or online school. This is an either-or option; we do not plan to offer a hybrid option where children are at school some days, and at home on others. In selecting your option, you would be committing for one trimester. We will re-survey before the 2nd trimester begins.  We will only be able to switch your child from in-person to online-only if someone in your household needs to quarantine for 14 days. This survey will close on Wednesday, July 29th at 4:00 pm. We will be sending home the results of this survey on Friday, July 31st, along with updated fall re-opening guidelines based on the results of this survey. You can complete the survey using the link you will find in the email we sent today. If we do not hear back from you, we will assume you are happy with the in-person option. 

CHA Uniform Swap - The Uniform Swap is a collection of gently used CHA uniform items. It was created for parents by parents to reuse uniform items that are still in good condition. The swap is run by two of our amazing parents, Sandy R. and Sandra M., with help from Heather M. in the stain removal department. As parents are not able to come into the building to collect items, our volunteers have been compiling starter sets for new families and are taking requests from returning families. If you would like them to check for items for your child, please complete the form you will find here. The volunteers will contact you via Teams to check details and coordinate pick up. If you have been having a clear-out, we would love to receive your gently used (i.e. no stains, holes, rips, or tears), washed items. The items can be dropped off at school Monday - Friday between the hours of 9:00 and 4:00. 

Summer Math – IXL have made some updates to their curriculum which has messed with the requirements the teachers posted in June. We are working to get the Summer Reading and Math page fixed.  Most grades should be ready now except for students who completed 2nd Grade Math. 

Summer Camp – Registration for summer camp is open now, and the Back-Up Care Advantage System is accepting reservations. You can find all the information you need here. We are asking all families to complete all necessary paperwork PRIOR to drop-off. Processing paperwork at the front desk will not be an option because only campers will be entering the building. 

August 1st Tuition Draft – The first tuition payment is right around the corner, on August 1st, 2020. Please check your account through the Family Info Center to ensure accurate tuition and extended day charges. Please note that charges were made based on the payment plan selection made in your enrollment agreement, and your extended day charges were selected through TADs enrollment. If you need to make any changes, please email [email protected] prior to August 1st. Please ensure that your recurring ACH payments are set-up for automatic withdrawal on August 1st, in order to avoid incurring late fees of $5/day after the due date.
