Dear CHA Community,
The week was wonderful from start to finish. The flowers, treats, lunch, and gifts appreciated. While these things are incredible and so very generous, our favorite part of this week, (outside of free dress and the garage door being opened for us) was the thoughtful intention we received through your actions and words. The time that was spent to make each day special demonstrates your appreciation and validates your belief that the work that we do is important. Leo Buseaglia a Special Education Professor at USC in the 1960’s shares, “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential” to make a difference in someone’s day. Thank you for making a difference in our day, our week and our year.
Janice Hill Award - Today, staff and students successfully sprang a surprise on a Springer! We are delighted to share that CHA’s 4th Grade Science and Math teacher, Jessica Springer, has been awarded the Bright Horizons Janice Hill Award, one of only 13 awarded this year across the whole of Bright Horizons USA. The Janice Hill Award is given in memory of Janice Hill, who enthusiastically dedicated herself to children, families, and colleagues at the Campbell Child Care Center during her 10 years of service. This award recognizes one long-term, committed teacher from each division for their dedication to the field of education and their colleagues, and who wholeheartedly participate in school activities. Congratulations, Mrs. Springer!
Friendship Week and Spirit Week – Our Student Lighthouse Leaders have combined these two as our original Friendship Week had to be postponed due to snow days. Here are details of the events they have planned:
Friendship Grams (cards with bracelets, pencils, keychains, etc. attached)
- Will be sold in the lobby May 29-31 before and after school for $1 apiece
- Will be delivered during Friendship/Spirit Week June 3-7
Spirit Week Themes (Anyone who does not want to dress in the day’s theme may have Free Dress)
- Monday, June 3 – Blue Monday (Dress in Blue and “drink your blues away” at lunch with lemonade or chocolate milk)
- Tuesday, June 4 – Twin Tuesday (We’re sorry – they really wanted this theme. You can encourage students in your class to dress alike in Seahawks shirts, red shirts, or something like that if you’re concerned about people being left out)
- Wednesday, June 5 – Wacky Wednesday (mismatched clothing and crazy hair)
- Thursday, June 6 – Throwback Thursday (wear any fashions from the past)
- Friday, June 7 – Future Friday (wear fashions you think people in the future will wear)
Spring Food Drive June 3-7
Math is Cool - The CHA Math team is off to the Math is Cool Masters Competition in Moses Lake this weekend! As a road trip is involved, it seemed only fair to load them up with snacks, books and puzzles to keep them entertained. We wish the best of luck to Natalia, Ishwin, Arjun and Oscar, but we are sure that luck won’t come in to it as they are a group of smart, hard working mathematicians who have some wonderful coaches!
Sunglasses – If you misplaced your Marc Jacobs sunglasses, Maddie has them at the front desk for you to pick up.
