Important upcoming dates:

Dear CHA Community,

In the words of Heinrich Heine, “Where words leave off, music begins”.  The musicals this week were simply amazing.  CHA teachers, parents, and Mr. Rees are so creative in their vision.  The experience that is shared throughout these performances will have a lasting impact.  Students will remember long into adulthood the time they played a role, sang and danced alongside their classmates, and performed. Musicals allow students to express feelings, thoughts, actions, words and improv.  Their projections were heard loud and clear, far and wide bringing joy to all who participated.  Thank you to CHAPTER, parents, and teachers for your support.

Middle School Admissions - Hard work, dedication, studying, a strong application, and a commitment to growth mindset all play an active role when a student applies out for Middle School.  It is a culmination of their progress in elementary school, scores on their ITBS, ISEE. and SSATs, teacher recommendations, student visits, and student and parent interviews that go into being considered a candidate.  With an average number of 36 spaces being available for 5th grade (18 boys and 18 girls), 16 spaces for 6th (8 boys and 8 girls), and schools seeing upwards of 300+ applications for each grade, to say competition is tough would be an understatement.  Congratulations to our 4th and 5th grade students on their remarkable acceptances into the elite private schools in the Seattle area.  We wish you well as you represent CHA and continue to expand your education and experiences.

Leader in Me Parent Survey - Our lighthouse team is asking parents to complete this survey as part of an annual assessment to help all members of the school community understand how everyone feels about CHA. As you respond to each item, focus on your thoughts and feelings based on your own personal experience with the school, as well as your perceptions of your child’s experience as a student. There are no right or wrong answers— this is not a test! We just want to know how you feel. Your responses will provide us with important information to help your child’s school become even better. All responses are completely anonymous and collated by the Leader in Me organization. No one from CHA will see your answers, and no identifying information will be recorded with your answers. All results will be reported to CHA only in terms of how each population responded. The survey should take you approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

Math is Cool - We are happy to share the news that the CHA Math team did well at the 2019 ‘Math is Cool’ competition on Sunday. Out of a total 125 teams participating, Chestnut Hill Academy placed 5th in their division. Within the CHA Math team, Oscar got the best score in the individual test. The team also discovered this week that they will be advancing to the Masters competition in May!

Fire Drill – Today’s monthly fire drill was completed in 2:56 seconds, which represents an improvement of nearly 30 seconds over last month. Well done students, and thank you to our guest Fire Marshall, Matthew K!
