Important upcoming dates:

Dear CHA Community,

Edifice, clavicle, Prague, dervishes and buzzard are just a few of the words our fourteen Spelling Bee Finalist were asked to spell today.  We are amazed and proud of your spelling abilities and were excited to celebrate each of your spelling accomplishments.  Congratulations to Fourth Grader, Ishwin and runner up, First Grader, Amar!

Re-Enrolling at CHA – The best compliment you can give to the teachers and faculty at CHA is to re-enroll your child next year.  This demonstrates your confidence in our care and ability to help your child thrive in and out of the classroom.  We look forward to welcoming your family back next year!  Current CHA families do not need to re-apply. Instead, existing families just sign a new tuition agreement. The agreements for existing CHA families are coming home via email this afternoon. This year the forms will be online. The signed forms will be due at 4:00pm on Friday, February 15th.

Snow on Monday – If the weather forecast is to be believed, we may be getting snow on Monday, so it seems timely to remind you about school closure notification. The decision to close the school, or delay the start of school, is not taken lightly; as working parents ourselves we understand the inconvenience it causes. Our decision is always based on the protocol adopted by the Bellevue and Issaquah School Districts. CHA has staff and parents coming from a wide geographic area; even if conditions are good where you are, that might not be the case for the rest of our community. If we decide to close the school, you will be notified by text from JupiterEd. We will also post the information on the school website and you can register with http://flashalert.net/news.html?id=4344, a free service which will alert you via email and text. You do not need to phone the school to check if the message is genuine. If you arrive at school and there are signs posted on the door that the school is closed, please do not attempt to enter the building as it may be alarmed. If you did not sign up to receive texts via Jupiter, you can find the directions here.

Spelling Bee - The Regional Spelling Bee of King and Snohomish County will be held on Saturday, March 2 at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue.  Ishwin B. will represent CHA at regionals in March. Should she not be able to attend, Amar F. will represent CHA.  Well done to you both!

March Lunch Orders - The lunch order form for March is now open. All order forms must be submitted by 4pm on Thursday, February 28th. If you have any questions about the menu, the ordering process or the billing, please email [email protected].

Mid-Winter Break Sign Up - There will be no school the week of February 18th for Mid-Winter Break. CHA will be completely closed on Monday, February 18th (President’s Day), but there will be camp available on Tuesday - Friday. Please visit the CHA Sign Up page to register your child for camp.

Lost and Found – Mrs. Morlidge would love to return two fitbits, a watch and a stud earring to their rightful owner. Please let her know if they any of these items belong to your child.  Please also take a minute to check the ski lost and found table, which you will find by the basement elevator entrance.

Weekly Snack List – You can view the snacks Chef Melissa will be offering next week here.

Gala Auction – The auction is a wonderful way to enjoy an evening with other CHA parents.  Did you know you are able to plan the evening with other CHA Parents by requesting a table together?  Plan the evening by using this link to RSVP:  www.chestnuthillacademy.com/Auction

Volunteers Needed for Faculty Appreciation Week - The success of our parent sponsored events depends largely on the generous contributions of time our members give. Please contact CHAPTER Volunteer Coordinator Steven Daly if you can help us make this week a success.

Mom’s Night out at Jimmy Choo at the Bravern - Please save the date for Mom’s Night out on Feb 9th from 4-6pm! For more information and to RSVP, please click here. If you have any question, please feel free to reach out to Susan Archer at [email protected].

Parent Communication Channels - Are there any other parents who would be interested in putting together a survey to see which app most parents would prefer to use, and setting up the app once it is selected?  Please contact [email protected] if you would like to help us with this project.

Ski Updates – Next week is the last opportunity for parent volunteers this season! We still need parents for 3rd-5th ski days to help take lunch coolers to the lodge and help students to ski poles for lessons.

CHAPTER Board Positions - Please contact [email protected]tnuthillacademy.com if you’d be interested in participating in CHAPTER Leadership or Representative roles for the 2019 – 2020 school year.
