Dear CHA Community,
The First 8 Days are symbolic as they represent the introduction and implementation of the 7 Habits along with Habit 8: Find Your Voice. Each day, the daily plan began with shared outcomes in the areas of leadership, culture, and academics that incorporate activities for every grade level. The program is designed to act like a booster rocket that gets the school off to a strong start. The leadership principles that are woven into the lessons engage students and encourage them to come together to create their class community by writing their class Mission Statement and building a positive rapport amongst students and teachers. Now that we’ve launched leadership by creating our culture, we’ll turn our focus to aligning academics as student’s begin to write their WIG’s (Wildly Important Goals) that will be shared at Goal Setting. Vakker School Portraits – On September 16th, photo proofs will be available online for viewing and ordering. Picture Retake Day will be Monday, September 24th. Parents of siblings will also have the option of doing sibling photos that day. You can find out everything you need to know about how to order photos on the Vakker Flyer which is available on the website Parent Portal, and hyperlinked here.
Curriculum Night - Come and meet your child’s grade level teachers, as well as the specialist teachers, and find out all about the curriculum your child will be studying. In addition, you will receive a lot more information relevant to your child and your family. Dinner will be served in the gym during the CHAPTER meeting which precedes this event. Presentations will be uploaded to the Grade Level Groups after the event for the benefit of those parents unable to attend. There is no childcare available for this event, and children cannot attend Curriculum Night.
October Lunch Order Form – The order form is now open for ordering lunches for next month. The form will stay open until 4:00 pm on Tuesday, September 25th. You will find the menu and the order form on our Lunch Program page. If you have any questions about the menu, the ordering process or the billing, please email [email protected].
Goal Setting Childcare - If you would like take advantage of the childcare we offer during Goal Setting Conference Days, you will need to sign up in advance, even if you already have an Extended Day package, so that we know how many staff we will require. The sign-up has been loaded to the website, is accessible via the Parent Portal and hyperlinked here for your convenience. This sign-up site closes Tuesday, September 25th at 11:45pm. Any sign-ups after this time will be considered late and a $50 late fee will be charged to your account.
Goal Setting Conferences - The links for you to sign up for goal setting conferences with teachers opened this morning just after 8:00 and will stay open until 4:00 pm on September 25th. You will find all the grade level links on our Sign-Up page. If you have any questions, please email your homeroom teacher.
Middle School Presentation - We are looking forward to welcoming third, fourth and fifth grade families to the Middle School Presentation on Wednesday, October 3rd. The event will be from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Chestnut Hill Academy Gym. Dinner (Qdoba) will be served and childcare is provided. Please RSVP on our Sign-Up page. Specialist Newsletter – Each week we compile a newsletter outlining what your students have been doing in their specialist classes. You can view the Specialist Newsletter using the link at the top of this page, or on the home page of the website. If you have any questions about the newsletter, please email Sarah Morlidge.
Weekly Snack List – You can view the snacks Chef Megan will be offering next week here. If your child will not be eating the school snack you are welcome to send a nut free alternative to school in their backpack.
CHA’s PTA ‘CHAPTER’ Updates
Join Chapter! - Don’t forget to join CHAPTER, your Chestnut Hill Academy PTA. CHAPTER supports the ski bus, yearbooks, summer math books, social events, holiday festivals, spring musicals, field trips, and many other programs for students and families. Sign up at http://cha-chapter.org. Family membership costs $80. Note that non-members of CHAPTER are assessed a $150 ski bus fee by CHA. CHAPTER is a non-profit, so your membership and donations may be tax deductible, and they are eligible for corporate matching from many local employers. Contact [email protected] with any questions.
Walk-a-thon Update - Please return your Walk-A-Thon envelopes to your teacher the morning of Friday, September 14th and/or Friday, September 21st. Pledges will be counted, and toe token rewards will be returned within the same pledge envelope. Your pledge envelope will be returned the same day along with Friday folders. If small amounts of cash are collected, we kindly ask that parents substitute with checks to ease accounting efforts. All funds collected can be matched by a corporate matching program and used as a tax deduction (CHAPTER is a non-profit organization). Donor receipts are available upon request.
