Dear CHA Community,
I hope you enjoyed the presentations today shared by the students and their understanding of the traditions and culture of the countries they studied as much as I did. Observing the students prepare their boards, practice presentations skills and enjoy learning from parent volunteers is a valuable experience. Tomorrow, Mr. Rees, teachers and students look forward to performing for you at the Festival of Peace and Light. We look forward to celebrating with you tomorrow.
Festival Logistics: The busses will be leaving school at 9:00 sharp, and there will be no transportation back to CHA which will be closed. Doors open to parents at 9:45. Please remember that all students are required to be in Dress Uniform for the performance. Dress Uniform comprises a white polo or peter pan collar shirt, a green cardigan, sweater vest or sweater, khaki shorts or pants for boys, black watch jumper, skirt or skort for girls, white/navy/forest green socks or tights for girls, brown/black socks for boys, black, brown or navy shoes. Please, no sneakers.
2019-20 Key Dates Calendar – Putting first things first is important as we head into the new year. We wanted you to be able to plan your “Big Rocks” for next year and the school calendar is a critical part of your planning. You can view the Key Dates Calendar 2019-20 on the Parent Portal here Please note that there is a third conference day added as we are anticipating four classes in Kindergarten, First and Second Grade and need to be able to accommodate this large of a group. Enjoy planning your Q2 time next year!
Weekly Snack List – You can view the snacks Chefs Megan and Melissa will be offering next week here.
Spelling Bee - The fifth annual CHA school spelling bee is coming! The Spelling Bee is open to 1st through 5th Grade and participation is voluntary. General information about the spelling bee will be sent home on Thursday, 12/13, in Friday folders. Classroom level bees will be held the week of January 7th to 11th. A winner and runner up per homeroom will be announced on Friday, January 11. Information and a “permission slip” will go home that day to the 28 students who qualified for the all-school bee. The All-School Spelling Bee will be held on Friday, 2/1 starting at 1:30. The winner of the CHA Spelling Bee will move on to the Regional Spelling Bee in Seattle which will take place on March 2nd, 2019 at Town Hall Seattle. The word lists for the classroom bees are coming home in the ‘Friday’ folders today. The word lists for the classroom bees can be found here, along with the Rules for the Spelling Bee and information regarding ‘How to Study for a Spelling Bee’.
Save the Date – CHA CHAPTER invites you to join us on Saturday, March 9th for the 17th Annual CHAPTER Auction and Gala. This year’s event will be held at the Bellevue Marriott. More information, including sponsorship and donation opportunities are available at http://www.chestnuthillacademy.com/Auction. Also, our parent community recently noted a typographical error on our sponsorship information sheet. This has been corrected, thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Last Call to Avoid the Ski Bus Fee! – In addition to social events, yearbooks, parenting classes, enrichment programs, professional development, summer math books, teacher appreciation… you get the idea, your membership in Chapter helps us to pay for the ski busses. Your $80 membership in chapter waives the mandatory $160 ski bus fee, so this is a great deal. The link for registration can be found at https://cha-chapter.org/.
Corporate Matching - Don’t forget that as a non-profit, CHAPTER is eligible to receive corporate matching for your donations and volunteer hours. Your membership dues, walk-a-thon pledges, and other donations are all eligible for matching. CHAPTER is registered with most area employers. If you have any questions or need help, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org
