Dear CHA Community,
The Book Fair, brought to you by CHAPTER and their fabulous volunteer crew, is a great time to get children more excited about reading by exposing you and your child to new books at their reading level, and it starts on Monday. The volunteers have worked incredibly hard this week, setting up a Book Fair that will surpass your wildest expectations. Parents can also get a lot of holiday shopping done, and it raises money for the school so teachers can have a huge supply of new books in the classroom! CHA will receive 55% of sales to buy new books for the classrooms and library. The Book Fair will be open Monday through Friday, including during the Harvest Festival. Please remember that all children must be accompanied by an adult while shopping. Hours are:
- Monday, October 15th 3:00-5:30pm
- Tuesday, October 16th 7:45-9:00am, 3:00-5:30pm
- Wednesday, October 17th 7:45-9:00am, 3:00-5:30pm
- Thursday, October 18th 7:45-9:00am, 3:00-5:30pm
- Friday, October 19th 7:45-9:00am, 3:00-7:00pm (open during Harvest Festival!)
This year we also have a unique volunteer opportunity! The book fair chairs worked their special magic to get the Clifford the big red dog costume to help promote the book fair. You can be Clifford and become your child’s instant hero! The opportunity has been added to the CHAPTER volunteer signup. Please look at the link and consider helping out where you can. You can sign up at the CHA Sign Up page here www.chestnuthillacademy.com/Sign-Up
Your Feedback – We recognize that parents have choices when it comes to choosing a school for their most precious assets, and we appreciate that you chose CHA. We recognize that there is always room for improvement, which is why we ask for your input. Next week, we will be sending out the 6 Week Survey to families who are new at CHA, and at the end of the year we will be surveying all our families. In the meantime, if you have suggestions for improvement please let us know. On the other hand, if you are really happy with the education your child is receiving at CHA, we would love you to let other families know! There are several avenues for you to do that, I have listed some of them here – Niche, Private School Review, Great Schools, Yelp, and Google. Thank you!
Fall Festival and Spaghetti Feed - Only one week to go till we are enjoying the highlight of the fall social calendar! The evening will start with the Spaghetti Feed which will take place from 5:30-6:30 pm in the Café. All proceeds benefit the Bleeding Disorder Foundation. The dinner will cost $5.00 per person and will include spaghetti, salad, a roll, and a beverage. Please RSVP here so that we will have an accurate count for ordering. The Fall Festival itself will start at 6:00 pm and run until 7:45 pm. Students should collect their passports from the front desk. Passports will get stamped at each station and can be turned in at the end of the event for the chance to win a gift card.
Weekly Snack List – You can view the snacks Chef Megan will be offering next week here. If your child will not be eating the school snack you are welcome to send a nut free alternative to school in their backpack.

Diwali Celebration – Friday, November 9th, 1:00-3:00pm - The Indian community at CHA would like to welcome all students and parents to a celebration of DIWALI! Diwali, the festival of light, celebrates the victory of good over evil, of light over darkness. We welcome light into all corners by lighting small lamps, also called diyas. Last year’s Diwali celebrations were a big success with the students. The student and parent community can look forward to traditional decorations and an afternoon of fun filled activities again this year. Chef Megan will serve Indian inspired snacks, sourced and prepared at CHA. There will be opportunity for crafts, dancing and even dress up. Our colorful photo booth will be the back-drop for the kids to model festive Indian attire, which we hope to capture in photos for lifelong memories. We look forward to seeing you there!
