Kindergarten | First Grade | Second Grade | Third Grade | Fourth Grade | Fifth Grade

Kindergarten

This week at Art, Kindergarten students painted their pinch pot with ceramic glaze. They were very amazed by how their clay pinch turned out after Mrs. Choi fire them in the Kiln and were very excited to see the final result.

This week in Library, Kindergarten students enjoyed listening to different books about President’s Day. We created a class chart about what we know about Presidents. Check out days are as follows: Wednesday: Bernal, Hawron. Thursday: McInerney, Newell. Due to ski season, check out days are flexible.

This week’s objectives in Kindergarten Music were vocal repertoire, movement, steady pulse, and same versus different. Students continued to work on the Spring musical as well as the song Lean on Me for our assembly next Friday. In addition, kindergarteners played the rhythmic games Sheep in the Meadow and Ally, Bally.

This week in PE, the Kindergarteners were in the Super Bowl spirit as they played a fun game of “Penny Football” on Monday. On Thursday they made it up for their 3rd ski day. There will be makeup days on February 15th and March 1st.

This week in Spanish, Kindergarten finished their mochila (backpack) project where it can be found in their end of the year portfolio. They also reviewed their colors with a Valentines coloring sheet.

This week in Kindergarten Technology, students created artwork for their upcoming musical, Tikki Tikki Tembo, using KidPix. You’ll find their wonderful work on the musical posters, tickets, and programs.

First Grade

This week at Art, First Grade students learned about Romero Britto, Brazillian Neo-Pop artist and had a great time working on the Textured Heart project inspired by the artist. After learning about the artist and review patterns, we drew a BIG heart that fill up the whole paper. We then filled the heart with fun patterns and colored with tissue paper.

This week in Library, First Grade students enjoyed listening to different books about President’s Day. We created a class chart about what we know about Presidents. Check out days are as follows: Tuesday: Grieger. Wednesday: Carver. Thursday: Wilcox. Due to ski season, check out days are flexible.

This week’s objectives in 1st Grade Music were vocal repertoire and movement. Students continued to work on the Spring musical. They reviewed the music to This is our Night to Howl and What Does it Mean to Be a Dog and were introduced to the choreography. Students also reviewed Lean on Me, a song they’ll be singing at next week’s assembly.

This week in Spanish, First Grade finished their farm projects. Some of them started a farm book where they had to write the name of the animal in Spanish. The sentence was given in English and they had to translate the animal name.

This week in First Grade Technology, students continued Code.org’s Code Course 1. Most students returned to the “Artist”. They completed puzzles in this stage that were focused on drawing, combining, and dividing squares and rectangles. Students will work on their code course for one more week and then can continue their progress at home.

Second Grade 

This week at Art, Second Grade students continued working on the Notan Heart project. 

This week in Library, Second Grade students enjoyed listening to different books about President’s Day. We created a class chart about what we know about Presidents. Check out days are as follows: Wednesday: Duffina. Thursday: Fox, Morman. Due to ski season, check out days are flexible.

This week’s objectives in 2nd Grade Music were vocal repertoire and movement. Students continued to work on their Spring Musical. They reviewed movements and choreography to Get your Lemonade and This is the Worst Day. Students also reviewed Lean on Me, a song they’ll be singing at next week’s assembly.

This week in PE, the Second Graders were in the Super Bowl spirit as they played a fun game of “Penny Football” on Friday. On Thursday they made it up for their 3rd ski day. There will be makeup days on February 15th and March 1st.

This week in Spanish, Second Grade finished their silly skiers. The skiers contained a silly face of themselves and their body parts were labeled. They also wrote fives sentences about their body parts like I have two eyes (Yo tengo dos ojos.)

This week in Second Grade Technology, students continued to explore the world of Scratch! Scratch is a free programming language and online community where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations. Students learned how to code their sprite to follow their mouse and glide to a specific location on an XY axis.

Third Grade 

This week at Art, 3rd Grade students continued working on the Doodle 4 Google project. 

This week in Library, Third Grade students enjoyed listening to different books about President’s Day. We created a Thinking Map about what we know about Presidents. Check out days are as follows: Wednesday: Peters, Watkins. Thursday: Setting.

This week’s objectives in 3rd Grade Music were vocal repertoire and movement. Students reviewed the music and movements for “Goal!” and learned choreography to the song Awesome. They continued to learn the song Lean on Me for next week’s assembly.

This week in PE, the Third Graders finished up their Shuffleboard unit and then hit the mountain for their final day of skiing and riding. The soft spring conditions allowed students to get out and explore new areas on the mountain.

SpanishThis week in Spanish, Third Grade wrote a Spanish speech about their house. It included their name and some details about their house. The students had to practice their pronunciation and numbers with a partner. When they were ready they presented in front of the class.Spanish

This week in Third Grade Technology, students continued Code.org’s Code Course 2. Students built on the concept of repeating instructions from previous levels. They began to use loops to more efficiently traverse a maze.

Fourth Grade 

This week at Art, 4th Grade students continued working on the Doodle 4 Google project. 

This week in Library, Fourth Grade enjoyed listening to different books about President’s Day. We created a class Thinking Map about what we know about Presidents. Check out days are as follows: Monday: Shamsen, Warenkiewicz. Thursday: Springer.

This week’s objectives in 4th Grade Music were vocal repertoire and movement. Students reviewed the music and movements to What Kind of Band are You. They also reviewed the music and learned the choreography to Dancing in the Streets. Lastly, they reviewed Lean on Me, which they’ll be singing at next week’s assembly.

This week in PE, the Fourth Graders finished up their Shuffleboard unit and then hit the mountain for their final day of skiing and riding. The soft spring conditions allowed students to get out and explore new areas on the mountain.

This week in Spanish, Fourth Grade reviewed masculine and feminine articles (the/a). The students discussed the rules between feminine and masculine words. For example, if a word ends in an A most likely the word is feminine, and a feminine article should be added. The students also watched another episode of the Spanish mystery “Eres tu Maria” and answered comprehension questions about the video using their OneNote account on their surfaces.  

This week in Fourth Grade Technology, students created artwork for their upcoming musical, Let’s Jam!, using KidPix. You’ll find their wonderful work on the musical posters, tickets, and programs.

 Fifth Grade 

This week at Art, Fifth Grade students Continued working on the Doodle 4 Google project. 

This week in Library, Fifth Grade students enjoyed listening to different books about President’s Day. We created a class Thinking Map about what we know about Presidents. Late notices are sent home in Friday Folders. Check out days are as follows: Tuesday: Taylor Wednesday: Carpenter.

This week’s objectives in 5th Grade Music were vocal repertoire and movement. Students reviewed the music and movements to It’s a Hard Knock Life. They also reviewed the music and learned choreography to N.Y.C. Lastly, they reviewed Lean on Me, which they’ll be singing at next week’s assembly.

This week in PE, the Fifth Graders finished up their Shuffleboard unit and then hit the mountain for their final day of skiing and riding. The soft spring conditions allowed students to get out and explore new areas on the mountain.

This week in Spanish, Fifth Grade played Kahoot to review for their test. The students took their Ch2B test and they also watched another episode of the Spanish mystery “Mi Vida Loca.” They also answered comprehension questions on their OneNote account. 

This week in Fifth Grade Technology, students began the creation of their animal research websites using Wix. Students developed a shell for their website and began to customize it to make it their own. They created their website link and added pages. Students are excited to begin to add content to their website next week.
