It’s an odd feeling to know that for the first time in 12 years when I arrive home and open my child’s Friday Folder, there won’t be a Re-Enrollment Contract to attend CHA next year as my youngest will graduate with her 5th grade classmates in June. The ability to work and be a part of my three girls education and experience over the years at CHA has helped me gain firsthand knowledge of what a parents experience is from homework, classwork, assessments, curriculum, and partnerships with teachers, friendships with peers and much more. I’m grateful for these years and the opportunity to be a part of their time at CHA. Looking to next year, I hope you’ll join me in returning for the 2018-2019 school year. The Admin Team and I will excitedly accept your contracts at the front desk by February 16th. There is so much more for us to learn and explore together!
Spelling Bee Results - The All-School Spelling Bee was held today and I am excited to announce that your CHA Spelling Bee 2018 winner is Ishwin B and the runner up is Anhat B. The winner will move on to the Regional Spelling Bee in Seattle which will take place on March 25, 2018 at Seattle University.
Kindness Week - Student Council members will be hosting Kindness Week February 12th-16th. As part of this, they will be having a fundraiser selling Kindness/Friendship Grams February 5th-9th. The Kindness Grams will include a note and a pencil or piece of candy. Parents and family members can purchase Kindness Grams for their children and students can purchase them for friends, teachers, or an entire class! Students Council members will begin selling on Monday, February 5th from 3:00-4:30, Tuesday morning 7:30-8:30, Thursday afternoon 3:30-4:30, Friday morning 7:30-8:30. Each Friendship Gram is $1.00 or buy three and get a fourth Friendship Gram for free, and they may purchase as many as they would like. Grams will be delivered the week of February 12th.
Flu Season - With the flu season upon us, I want to share our influenza policies as you are likely hearing a lot about the flu virus in your community as well as in the media. It is turning out to be one of the harshest flu seasons we have experienced in quite some time, and many states are seeing record numbers of flu cases. It is a good time for a reminder about what we can all be doing to prevent the spread of the flu and other contagious illnesses. You can view our influenza policy here
Camp Explorations - We are excited to announce that Summer Camp Registration is open! Look out for the postcard coming home in your Friday Folder, and be sure to visit the Summer Camp page of the website to find out all about the fun Camp Director, Brandon Poole, has planned. CHA families will receive a 10% Early Bird Discount on enrollment (not including the registration fee or Extended Day) for registration forms submitted by May 19th.
Love Notes - Please be on the lookout for an email from Mrs. Hayes this afternoon regarding Love Notes for the CHA Yearbook. She has gone high tech on us this year and is using Survey Monkey to collect messages and clip art choices this year!
CHAPTER Gala Auction ( March 10th) - The PTA’s main fundraiser of the year is just weeks away. I would like to give a big shout out to this year’s CAHPTER Auction Chair, Sukriti Singhal and her team who are working hard to prepare this year’s Gala. It’s not too late to sign up for what promises to be a wonderful evening -http://chapter.maestroweb.com/. Please send any questions you may have to Sukriti at email@example.com
Thank you, Holly Senaga, Head of School
