Dear CHA Community,
It has been a pleasure to celebrate 2017 with your family! I hope you enjoyed our Festival of Peace and Light and our Multicultural Fair. I know the students were excited to sing, present, and share the many things they’ve learned about other countries throughout their studies. The staff and I appreciate your participation and commitment to partnering together as we continue to support your child’s successful growth and development. The feeling of community at CHA is second to none. We are fortunate for the time we have together and that it is spent in many meaningful ways. We wish you a happy and safe holidays and look forward to seeing you in the new year!
Welcome to New Staff - Please join me in extending a warm welcome to two new members of staff. Sam Palladino and Christian Chow are joining us as Instructional Assistants. Both ladies have their teaching certification so we are excited to expand our sub pool options! You can read more about them here – Sam Palladino and Christina Chow
Adopt-A-Family - A message from Andrea Krook at Vision House: Thank you for being a part of our Adopt-a-Future Family program and generously donating household items to families recovering from homelessness. Vision House families often arrive after living in cars, tents, sheds, etc. They have nothing. When they first walk through the door of their new apartment, there are often tears of joy, and the healing from the trauma of homelessness begins. The bath towels you provided will go to a mom who previously didn’t own any. The bedding will go to a child who had been sleeping in a car. The laundry soap will go to a mom who has been aching to keep her clothes clean. You are making a huge difference for families getting back on their feet. Thank you for your support! We are so grateful!
Ski Season - Please mark your calendars for January 5th and 8th when Coach McIntosh and myself will be available at the gym entrance between 8:00 and 9:00 to perform an equipment check and help you get your child’s equipment labelled.
Extra-Curricular Classes - The Winter Session will start after winter break, please refer to the flyer in your child’ Friday folder for details of classes that still have spaces.
January Lunch Order - Don’t forget to order your lunches before the form closes on December 29th at 4pm. Here is the link to the order - http://www.chestnuthillacademy.com/January
Festival of Peace and Light Video - Mrs. Morlidge has uploaded her video of yesterday’s performance to our Dropbox. You can retrieve it here. If you want to watch more than 15 minutes you will need to download it.
Specialists’ Holiday Messages - The Specialists’ Newsletter is available weekly at the top of these Campus Updates. This week we thought we would save you a click and include it here!
Art: I can’t believe it is already our winter break! I truly enjoyed working with every single artist and appreciate the creative and vibrant energy that they bring to every project. My days have been filled with laughter and excitement because of your child, and I thank each of you for raising such fun, bright spirits! I am looking forward to having an AWESOME 2018! I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season! Mrs. Choi
Library: Wishing you and your family the peace, joy, and relaxation of the holiday season. I look forward to welcoming your children back in 2018. Kindly, Mrs. Lodwick
Music: Music has a special way of nurturing self-expression and individual creativity, while simultaneously strengthening the bonds of a school’s community. Nowhere is this more on display than around the holidays. Children are magic in the music classroom and it’s a distinct honor and pleasure working with your children every day! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year ~ Mr. Rees
PE: Have a wonderful Holiday! I’m looking forward to skiing you all next year! Coach McIntosh
Spanish: The month of December is always so exciting for me, because it’s a time of joy and happiness. It’s also the time that I get to share with the students my own traditions and folk tales that I grew up with. I enjoy sharing a little bit of who I am, and I am so thankful that I get to do it in this amazing community. Feliz Navidad y Prospero Año Nuevo. Señora V.
Tech: One of the best joys of the holiday season is the opportunity to say, “Thank You” and to wish you and your family the very best for the New Year. I’m looking forward to spending 2018 learning and growing with your child. Warmest Wishes, Mrs. Hayes
Have a lovely break, Holly Senaga, Head of School
