 Dear Parents, 

Last night provided the CHA community an opportunity to synergize and pave the way towards a partnership with their teachers in support of your child’s visualization of their Everest and how they’re going to achieve their WIG’s (Wildly Important Goals) throughout the year.  As classes are writing their Mission Statements with classroom WIG’s, it’s helping students form a deeper understanding of writing a goal, what the lead measures are and how to graph their results.  These valuable experiences help students create a system of how to set out to accomplish what their goal may be.   Goal Setting next week will provide you further opportunity to discuss your vision and goals for your child with their teacher while they’re collaborating with your child and sharing observations to support concrete goals at school and at home.  Our goal is to help students become the best versions of themselves that they can be.  To further understand and gain an overview of the Leader in Me Program, please join John Flokstra at CHA, on Wednesday, September 27th from 6:30-8:00.  More information regarding the class can be found below.

Walk-a-Thon and CHAPTER Fall Social - Our goals for the Walk-a-Thon and CHAPTER Fall Social exceeded our expectations. CHA and CHAPTER’s goal for the Walk-a-Thon is to build community while matching or exceeding last year’s funds raised.  Our goal for the social is to foster community relationships outside of school.  CHAPTER, your PTA will share the results of the Walk-a-Thon with you soon.  Enjoying one another’s company, great conversations and food throughout the day was an extraordinary way to sharpen the saw and kick off the weekend!  Your contributions through donation of time and funds is appreciated.

Student Council - Thank you to those student who have applied for positions on Student Council.  Students running for elected positions may make 1-2 posters only to be put up at school on October 2nd when the campaign begins.  All campaign posters must be submitted to the front desk for review and will be hung by Student Council Advisors, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Setting.  Candidates will present their platforms at an all school assembly on Thursday, October 12th.  A candidate reception for students will be held on Friday, October 13th with results being shared with the student body at 2:45.

School Photographs - The proofs are available online. There will the opportunity for retakes on  Monday, October 2nd. You can find more information about how to view and order photographs on the Vakker flyer here and all relevant dates are on the school calendar. 

Flickr - As we go through the year Mrs. Morlidge will be uploading photos that staff and parents take, in class and at community events, to our private CHA Flickr album. The address for the album is (there is a link from the homepage of the school website). If you already have a Flickr account you can email stating the email address associated with your Flickr account and we will send you an invitation to our album.  If you do not have or want to set up your own Flickr account you can use our default account, please email us to request credentials. Once you have logged in to the Flickr album you can view and download photos for free. If you have taken photos that you would like to share with the community, please  send the link to your One Drive, Dropbox or other file share and we will download them, or you can drop them off at school on a usb stick. 

Middle School Information Session - This event, which is for all 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade parents, will be held October 3rd from 6:00pm - 8:00pm in the CHA Gym.  It will provide information about the Applying Out process, Open House dates, and how to prepare for the experience.  The sign up genius to RSVP is available at

Adopt a Classroom - A huge thank you to the families and students who donated school supplies and notes of encouragement to Goose Creek High School in Houston.  After Hurricane Harvey hit the area, many schools were not able to welcome students back until the schools have been repaired, while having lost nearly all supplies and curriculum. Here is a note of gratitude from the teacher at Goose Creek: 

My heart is overjoyed in the willingness and kindness of others to reach out to our community. Unfortunately, all of this happened prior to our first day of school. Our first day was postponed to this Monday so I have not met my students. My focus is to get as much help for them because I truly don’t know what to expect. Not only were our students affected but also some of our teachers and staff so I assure you anything, big or small, that is donated will be put to good use.
