This was certainly a week of celebration! First and foremost, we celebrated our CHA spirit and energy. Student Council facilitated this fun Spirit Week, with wild and wacky theme days and popsicle treats. Thank you to Annika Wanagel-Rojas for planning a delicious menu for the week, and thank you to all of the students for participating and showing their CHA spirit!
ITBS - Today you’ll find your child’s ITBS results inside their Friday Folders today. The first page is an overview of the composite score of how each grade performed and the following two pages are a snapshot and a performance profile for your individual child. An average baseline for each grade equivalent score would be for students to perform at a 1.7 for First Grade, 2.7 for Second Grade, 3.7 for Third Grade, 4.7 for Fourth Grade and 5.7 for Fifth Grade in every category. Overall, our students demonstrated well above these average scores and we have a lot to celebrate. Together, students, teachers, and parents how supported this success. Should you have questions pertaining to the test, please contact Holly Senaga at email@example.com.
STUDENT INFORMATION FORM 2017-18 - As you are already aware, we are required to ask you to update your child’s Student Information Form every year so that we can be sure that we have all the information on site that we need to take the best possible care of your child. The good news is that you can edit last year’s submission rather than having to start from scratch. Mrs. Morlidge has emailed directions to all parents today. You will need to log in to the Parent Portal to complete the process, if you have not done that recently and can’t remember you password please see our Tech Tips page for instructions on how to reset it. In order to help us get a head start on our preparations, we are requesting that all registration forms be updated no later than August 1st, 2017.
CHAPTER PICNIC - It’s time for CHAPTER’s annual end of year picnic! We are excited to get our families together to celebrate another amazing year. This year’s picnic is on Sunday June 4th from 2:30pm – 6:30pm. It will be at Vasa Park Resort (3560 W Lake Sammamish Pkwy SE, Bellevue) http://www.vasaparkresort.com/
It promises to be an amazing afternoon with fun planned for the whole family. Activities include a magic show, hamster balls and this year there will be swimming (Lifeguards will be on duty). Don’t forget towels and sunscreen!
CHA FIELD DAY - Field Day will be held June 8th at Newcastle Beach Park in Newcastle. This is an enjoyable, old-fashion day where the main goal is great fun for kids, staff and parents! We are looking for a group of enthusiastic parent volunteers who want to be involved in this year’s Field Day. The event runs from 9:00 – 2:00 on Thursday June 8th. The parent volunteers are a huge part of what makes this day so wildly successful each year. Your enthusiasm and involvement are much appreciated! You can sign up here http://www.chestnuthillacademy.com/Sign-Up.
CHA YOU TUBE CHANNEL - Did you know CHA has its own YouTube channel? You can access it here or from the icon at the bottom right corner of CHA’s website anytime! This week it features work by our Fourth Graders who have been working diligently to create a fantastic stop-motion Lego animation in connection with one of the 7 Habits. Make sure to check it out!
CHA ART SHOW - Mrs. Choi would like to express her heartfelt thanks to all the creative CHA students, who participated in the annual art show, and to those of you taking the time to come and celebrate the artistic gifts and talents of our students. We would love to keep all the beautiful work of our students in the hallway, as long as we can, but as the school year is coming to an end, it is time for the art pieces to be returned to their creators. If your child had a submission, please pick it up from the table next to the front desk, no later than Wednesday, June 5th. The art work that students have worked on, in Art class, will be delivered to their classroom teachers, and they can take it home.
WALK ON - The Bright Horizons Walk On will take place on Saturday, June 10th at 10:00 at Magnuson Park. I hope you’ll consider joining us on this day for a great cause. T-Shirt order forms will be sent out soon. The Walk On supports and maintains our Bright Horizons Bright Spaces and Foundation. To date, CHA has created 4 Bright Spaces that we continue to support through a variety of ways including sustaining a partnership with each space we’ve opened, an All Star Team that checks in with the space and spruces up the décor and work we’ve done previously to ensure the space is a positive place for teens, children, and their parents to spend time in. Walk On Feet are for sale at the front desk for $1/foot! We’d love to write your name, your child’s name or a family members name on a foot or two and proudly display it in the lobby. Our goal is to raise $500 for the Walk On. You can donate here if you would like to - http://seattle.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1172753 Thank you for your support!
CAMP EXPLORATIONS - There is still time to register for Chestnut Hill Academy’s summer camp program, Camp Explorations! If you are navigating the various BUCA and Schools Out! plans there is a decision making tool on the page that you might find handy. We have an amazing summer planned with endless opportunities for engineering, cooking, art, mathematics, sports, leadership, water play, and more, and we look forward to some great field trips and workshops!
