Kristina is very excited to teach Kindergarten this Fall! She left a career in finance to pursue her passion, teaching. She earned a Masters in early childhood education from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Education. Since 2004, she has held various positions, including Lead Teacher, Program Supervisor, Homeschool Teacher, Private Tutor and Substitute, in the field of education. Outside of school, she enjoys photography, scrapbooking, spending time with her four children and traveling the world.
Teacher, 5th Grade
Jenna grew up on the East Coast and recently moved to the Seattle area. She recently graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and a concentration in Elementary Education. Jenna student taught in third grade and has completed teaching experiences in kindergarten, fifth, and sixth grade. She is very excited to join the CHA team in 2017 and to be teaching 5th grade. In her free time, Jenna enjoys hiking and biking to explore Washington State. She also enjoys reading and cooking.
Teacher, 1st Grade
Danielle joined the CHA team in 2015 and is excited to work in First Grade this year. She was born and raised in Port Orchard, WA. She graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and an Endorsement in Literacy. She completed her student teaching at Manchester Elementary School in 1st grade. Danielle loves teaching because she loves watching children grow and making a difference in their lives each day. In her spare time, Danielle enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking her dog, hiking, traveling, cheering on the Seahawks, boating, and shopping.
Phoebe attended the School of Art Institute of Chicago where she received her BA with an Emphasis on Art Education. Phoebe has received teaching certificates for Visual Art (K~12) in Illinois and Washington State. Prior to joining CHA, Phoebe taught at Bright Horizons-West Campus for 4 years and recently received the Janice Hill Award for her contribution to Bright Horizons. She likes to expose students to a wide variety of art mediums, as well introduce her students to artists from all over the world, and from different periods in time. Phoebe enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends. She also enjoys traveling, exercising, cooking, and outdoor activities.
Teacher, 5th Grade Math and Science
Hazel is excited to be returning to CHA to teach fifth grade Math and Science. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Puget Sound. She went on to get her Master’s degree in Education with endorsements in Elementary Education, Reading, and Middle Level (6th through 8th grade) Math and Science from Pacific Lutheran University. Hazel is passionate about filling her classroom with hands-on experiences and helping each student find joy in learning. In her free time she loves hiking and spending time outdoors with her husband, daughter, and dog. She is also an avid reader and aspiring photographer.
Teacher, 2nd Grade
Lisa Duffina has been teaching at Chestnut Hill Academy since 2003. Mrs. Duffina grew up in the Seattle area and has taught at public and private schools for more than 20 years. Her undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and History were earned at Principia College, and she received her Masters in Education with a concentration in literacy from Western Washington University. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son as well as reading, playing the piano, and traveling.
Debbie grew up in a small Wyoming town and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wyoming. She moved to Arizona where she taught 5th grade in Tombstone and earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership through Northern Arizona University. During the past 18 years, Debbie has enjoyed time as a tutor, a preschool teacher, a parenting educator, and most recently a Kindergarten teacher. She is excited to be in a 2nd grade classroom and thrilled to be part of the CHA community. Away from the classroom, Debbie enjoys sailing, reading, writing and exploring with her husband and two cool teenagers.
Laura joined the CHA team in 2014 and is excited to work in First Grade this year. She moved to Washington from the Midwest with her husband after graduating from college. Laura earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a concentration in Reading from Purdue University in Indiana. Outside of the classroom she enjoys spending time with her husband and friends, shopping, and reading.
